Fresh 92.7

Fresh 92.7 (call sign: 5FBI) is a not-for-profit community radio station based in Adelaide, Australia broadcasting at a frequency of 92.7 MHz. The station, whose General Manager is Troy Sincock, is designed for the young people of Adelaide, and its fundamental operating principle is to "promote all genres and age categories of youth music and to expose new genres and forms of music that the youth of Adelaide enjoy." The station has a reputation for playing a lot of electronic dance and house as well as hosting programs on various social issues. On air the station is referred as "Fresh 92-7". In October 2010, Fresh moved into new, state-of-the-art, digital studios in Adelaide's fashionable East End.
== History ==
Plans for Fresh 92.7 were laid when three young people were visiting Melbourne in January 1997 and heard a youth radio station there (Hitz FM) and agreed that Adelaide could benefit from a similar broadcasting concept. They formed a non-profit association and charter, and assembled a team of volunteers, including members with experience in various broadcasting professions. Many of these volunteers originally used to run specialist dance music shows on the radio station Coast FM 88.7 and moved over to Fresh FM after its founding.
Fresh commenced broadcasting with an Australian Broadcasting Authority "Temporary Community Broadcaster" license on 17 March 1998. Initially the station broadcast at 92.9 MHz in a frequency-sharing agreement with the Italian language radio station Radio Televisione Italiana, before later moving to another frequency at 92.7 MHz. On 22 August 2002, Fresh received a full-time broadcasting license from the ABA.
Fresh 92.7 remains a not-for-profit radio station, supported by almost 10,000 subscribers—or listener-sponsors—who voluntarily contribute funds to keep the station operational-
Playing a mix of Dance, R&B, Hip Hop and Drum and Bass as well as Hardcore Techno, Fresh 92.7 has gained popularity not only in Adelaide but throughout Australia and the world via a live Internet Radio stream. Fresh 92.7 has also released a number of compilation CDs containing popular songs played on air.
